It is of the utmost importance that the "young people of today" become the "researchers of tomorrow".

In cooperation with EGIS Pharmacy Zrt., the national chemistry competition for secondary school students was held on 30.09.2022 within the framework of the Researchers' Night 2022. After the first online round in the spring, 12 teams of three people competed in the final round in both practical and theoretical competitions. The winning team was the TFG team from the Ferenc Toldy High School in Budapest's 1st district. Congratulations to Adél Incze, Csongor Habány and Viktor Kovács.

As a pre-event to the Researchers' Night, the RCISD (Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development) organised a roundtable discussion at the Palace of Miracles on the problems of physics education and ways to overcome the current negative situation, entitled Physics Education in Trouble.

Thousands of people celebrated Europe Day 2022 on Sunday 8 May 2022 also in Budapest, at the Szabadság Square in the city centre. The Europe Day festival included free concerts, children's activities and a running race to mark 18 years since Hungary joined the European Union (2004).

The festival kicked off with the "18 years - 18 km - EU Run", a barrier-free city centre running race that also showcased EU investments. Then there were free family and children's activities, concerts, interactive games, children's yoga, puppet shows and EU informations. In addition, it was worth visiting the tents of various institutions and organisations. In addition to the EU communication institutions, a number of green, cultural, youth and refugee support organisations had special programmes with interesting games and quizzes with lots of useful information. Researchers' Night also had a special tent at the event and raised awareness of science and the project.  Those who played in at least seven tents could win valuable prizes at the Europe Point tent.

This year the festival would focus on solidarity with Ukraine and refugees from Ukraine, and several refugee support organisations would be present to showcase their work.

On 30 September and 1 October, hundreds of venues are expected to host more than 2,000 activities for science enthusiasts, whether children, students or adults of all ages.

Autumn may be a long way off, but we're already preparing for the end of September, with the Researchers' Night again this year. As in previous years, the popular event is organised by the RCISD Regional Knowledge Centre and its consortium, which has been awarded a two-year grant from the European Union's Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions. This year, hundreds of institutions will again join the event, which is expected to offer more than 2,000 programmes.

In the past two years, the organisers have been hampered by the epidemic and the fact that last year no Hungarian applicant was successful in obtaining EU funding. Despite this, RCISD, partly using its own resources and partly with the help of a dedicated foundation (https://www.kutatokejszakaja.com/), organised a successful event in compliance with emergency measures.

It is hoped that this year, on 30 September, more young people and adults will be able to enjoy the festival of science in festival dress, with a similar number of events as in previous years.

Researchers' Night is traditionally held on the last Friday in September and, in recent years, on a Saturday, so this year it will be held on 30 September and 1 October across Europe.

The detailed programme will be available from the beginning of September on the Researchers' Night website (www.kutatokejszakaja.hu), where you can find interesting news from the world of science, as well as on the event's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kutatokejszakaja
